Lipslide
The short answer
A lipslide is a boardslide entered the opposite way, with your back truck crossing the rail first instead of your front. Ollie and turn 90 the opposite direction from a boardslide, lifting the back truck over the rail so the middle of the board locks on top. Land with feet over the bolts, slide centered, then turn back to ride away.

Approach
Roll toward the rail or ledge at a slight angle, the same setup as a boardslide.

Pop
Ollie and turn 90 the opposite way from a boardslide, lifting your back truck over the rail.

Lock in
Land with both feet on the bolts, the middle of the board locked on top of the rail.

Slide
Keep your weight centered and knees bent as the board slides across.

Turn back the way you came and ride away, weight centered on landing.

- Your weight shifted to one foot instead of staying centered.

- Keep even weight on both feet, the same as a boardslide.
You can't judge the turn direction

Should I learn boardslide before lipslide?
Yes. Lipslide uses the same slide balance as a boardslide, just entered from the other direction, so the boardslide lock-in should already feel solid.
Why does my back truck keep catching?
Your ollie isn't lifting the tail high enough to clear the rail before you land. Pop a bit higher through the turn.
What's the difference between lipslide and boardslide?
In a boardslide your front truck crosses the rail first; in a lipslide your back truck crosses first. The slide itself looks similar once you're locked in.
What obstacle should I practice on?
A low, flat rail or box you're already comfortable boardsliding, so the only new part is the entry direction.
